Got any old tapes that you wish you could convert for use on your computer or MP3 player? The ‘Plus Deck Cassette Converter‘ may be the answer. This interesting device installs into your PC and will both play and rip cassettes to MP3. [via Boing Boing] If you are needing vinyl to digital conversion, I wrote a short how-to (what feels like) ages ago here. I suppose we are only missing 8-tracks.
[edit: Check the comments for the same device for less money than the link above and an alternative method without using special equipment, Thanks rbreck & Pyster]

The link that you supplied is to the most expensive outlet for this device. There are a couple of places that you can get it for 40 bucks cheaper.

Unless you are going to use this thing daily to play and record tapes this thing is worthless. A set of audio cables connecting you tapedeck tot he audio In on your PC, and some software to record and you are all set. Chances are you already have a cable you can use and a tape deck. If you’ve bought a dvd/cd burner in the last 10 years chances are you have some nice audio recordind/editing software too.
Why convert something if it is not unique when you can download it?
I have an old Electrophic system that allows me to record to 8 track btw
