Here is the penultimate set of lists for 2007. This time around we have the best local or unsigned bands of the year which contains three St Louis based groups this year. We also have the best hip-hop albums of the year. Lastly, the best EPs of the year.
Best Local/Unsigned Bands:
- Baby Birds Don’t Drink Milk / Good Times In the Trenches, Eek Shriek Beak and Jam-Packed Full of Awesome - At the very least they produced two glorious EP’s in one year. I haven’t had a chance to pick up the third but if it is as good as the other two we will be hearing a lot more about these guys in the future. They have a show this weekend.
- Clap!Clap! / You Love This! - Dance music with a message. They will be dearly missed.
- Jumbling Towers / Jumbling Towers - Released their debut and played CMJ this year. Not to mention they are St Louis based and sound British, what’s better than that?
- The Hibernauts / Period Fable - A solid debut for the STL based band.
- Say Panther - Eagerly awaiting their debut album.
Best Hip/Hop Albums:
- El-P / I’ll Sleep When You’re Dead
- Oh No / Dr. No’s Experiment
- Busdriver / RoadKillOvercoat
- Kayne West / Graduation
- Def Tex / Thanks But No Thanks
Best EPs:
- Vampire Weekend / EP
- Daedelus / Fair Weather Friends
- Plants and Animals / with/avec
- Oh No! Oh My! / Between the Devil and the Sea
- Stay Fucked / Windpipe

wow, clap clap sounds really good. too bad they’re breaking up.
Yeah, it’s too bad. Hopefully we will see new projects from the members of the band.
Where is Aesop Rock-”None Shall Pass”? It’s better than his counter part’s ISWYD.
I recall Aesop’s last album being pretty good, but I haven’t checked out his latest.
